Hey guys! Technically, this isn't really nerdy, but you know, if you have a friend that's going to the Yule Ball at Hogwarts, then this would be a great gift idea for her right? XD This is super easy, and great as a last minute option!
You will need:
*Some beads (I like to use three)
*A bobby bin or barrette
*Paper or thin cardboard
1) Slide the bobby pin or barrette onto the paper or cardboard so that the top and bottom don't stick together when gluing. 
2) Glue the beads on. (I like to do mine biggest to smallest)
3) Slide it off the paper.
And you're done!
